Factions
The Black Knights are seen in armed conflict with the Black Falcons on
several occasions (6059)and (6057).

Actually, I always assumed that in 6057, they were best buddies, while in
6059 they were enemies... Although, if you take a look at 6061, we find
crusaders fighting... crusaders? So it appears to mean little.

If there is any evidence supporting either view, or even personal opinion,
I'd love to hear it.

The only strong evidence probably comes from the catalogs, and whatever
'under the lid' text you can find... I'll see if I can drudge some up:

1992 catalog:
- Crusaders: "The Crusaders are the bravest Knights in the Kingdom. They are
the protectors of the innocent and the keepers of justice."
- Black Knights: "The Black Knights are a powerful force in the Kingdom.
They will not back down from any conflict."
(And out of the sake of completeness):
- Wolfpack: "The Wolfpack is a feared group of renegades. They won't let
anything or anyone stop their quest for riches."
- Forestmen: "The Forestmen are a merry band of skilled archers. They enjoy
good food and good times."

1993 mini-catalog:
"The Dragon Masters have arrived! Led by Majisto the Wizard and his glow in
the dark wand, they control the fierce flying dragons. Can the powerful
Black Knights and the cunning Wolfpack stop their reign? Only you decide the
outcome of this medieval adventure."

Leadership
I am also wondering if there was ever a Crusader King?

Nope! (unless he's one of the knights/soldiers) He's mentioned in a few
places, like "King's Castle", "King's Mountain Fortress", "King's Catapult",
"King's Oarsmen", "King's Archer" (1624), but he's never actually identified
or apparent.

Is the Black Monarch the knight included with Black Monarch's Ghost?  If so,
He's not included in his Castle.  It appears he would be the Leader of the
Black Knight Faction.

Same deal as above :)

Succession

I doubt there was any plan to accomadate a story, really, but for what it's
worth from American catalogs:

Crusaders: 82-92
Black Falcons: 82-94 (6057 was still in catalogs in '94)
Forestmen: 87-92
Black Knights: 88-94
Wolfpack: 92-94
Dragon Masters: 93-97 (two appeared in 6079 which stayed till '97)
Royal Knights: 95-97
Dark Forest: 96-97
Fright Knights: 97-98

Probably the next best place to look for faction 'goodness' is the little
blurbs on boxtops...
