I'd agree with anyone who felt that FK, DF, and RK were pale
imitations of the glory years.  Still, I'd prefer pale imitations to
TLG's tardy attempt to cash in on the Ninja-craze that swept through
the waking world 10 years ago or more.

Well, see, that's your opinion, and that's fine.  But when other opinions
differ, that doesn't make someone a doofus, right?

Sometimes it does, yes.  Especially from one perspective or another.

Whenever I find myself going "oh gawd" about anyone who's excited by UFO,
Exploriens, or Insectoids, I remind myself that (a) everyone is entitled to
their own opinion and (b) many people in their teens and twenties never
-had- the older, truly great sets to compare with.  The newer sets are also
more geared toward younger rather than older people.  Oh dear, I'm on a rant
again.

Sounds like you're trying to get around to saying that not only do
you acknowledge everyone has a "right" to an opinion, but that
everyone has a "right" to have that opinion respected.

I don't see it that way.  I don't see anything wrong with
disagreeing with the opinions of others, or even calling them into
question.  I don't mind defending my opinions, do you?

You like Space.  Space sucks.  Does that make you a doofus?  Well,
if that's the only thing I knew about you, maybe.  I know you have
more than enough coolness to make up for that little bit of
doofusness, though.  <wink>

(...) There is no inherent conflict with respecting other peoples opinions and calling them into question. Unless you call them into question without respect. In the absence of universal truth surely everyones opinions are equally valid, and deserve (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
