I started with two schools of magic (Basic and Advanced) but I soon realized
that I wanted the four elements represented so that I could use the big rock
creature from Rock Raiders as an Earth Elemental. Also, I needed necromancy to
explain where all these skeletons, ghosts, and mummies came to be. Since I had
a green hat, I had to make rules for druids as well (in my first pass,
'Nature' was broken up into 'Plant' and 'Animal'... that seemed excessive).
Eventually I came up with the idea that each school of magic should have an
opposing school... and soon I had 8 schools.

Yup, that has been corrected. Now we know which spell the apprentice sorcerer
was studying on his scroll. He cast _Confuse_ on my while I was typing.
