  Re: Customized Castle Minifigs

(...) Well, I would, but I'm working on my Masters in Procrastination. ;) Jeff P.S. I really am planning on scanning them... Like tomorrow or something... ;) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Building a giant castle

I have just taken down my collection of about 30 castle sets, most of them being Royal Knights, and I'm about to go to work building a giant castle like Dan Jezek's Skull Kraag Keep or Pawel Nawareciwcz's Strombrachter. But I think that my measly (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Building a giant castle

(...) Well, I've built some pretty big castles(1), and I just have a couple of the major castle sets (plus dozens of the smaller ones). Can you build something like Strombrachter? Probably not, but a modest sized castle shouldn't be difficult. As (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Building a giant castle

(...) I think it all depends. First what color is the castle going to be? If the answer is Gray or DkGray then the answer is the basic block buckets are not going to help. If the Castle is going to be Red, Black, or White then I would say the (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Building a giant castle

(...) Yup. But with 5000 mostly castle pieces, you should still be able to do a decent-sized castle - maybe about half the size of Strombrachter? (Pawel - how many pieces are in there, anyway?) As a reference: This was done with only a few castle (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Good vs. Evil

(...) I have the following as my MOC (I just came out of my Dark Ages in December, so I've loaded up on recent sets), and a guess to the theme's intent: Grey Ninja are used (not terribly effectively) by my good, blue-flag (ninja and Knight's (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Any interest in a huge Castle Kingdom site?

(...) yet (...) Well, I could try... I have a knack with still life, and I've only tried a "map view" thing once, but I think I could manage a considerably OK picture of some terrian stuff. Also, I have a game called Civilization (some of you might (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Building a giant castle

(...) I'd have to agree... it all depends on what you want... if you look at something like Strombrachter, you'll notice that 80-90% of the walls are all castle wall sections. That helps a lot, since you don't need to build them out of actual (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Building a giant castle

(...) Well said. To be honest, I have been fascinated by Eric's Models recently, so from PERSONAL observation, I have to say that building something small (see church) and giving it great detail, makes people appreciate it more. Sure building a huge (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My new Inn of many gable ends...

awesome inn!@!@! i have to admit i've created a couple small castles, but have been completely dumbstruck for creating civilian buildings one major problem i have is building roof corners (90 degree angle change). I noticed you have figured this out (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My new Inn of many gable ends...

Nice looking model! Hmmmmm, I don't see any gable ends, or gables for that matter. What you have are hips my friend, hips! Hipped roofs and hipped dormers. Build On! John Matthews Eric Kingsley <kingsley@nelug.org> wrote in message (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My new Inn of many gable ends...

(...) Well there are no inverted (upside down) sloped bricks in there. Everything you need for a roof like this is in the service pack 5151-Red Steep Sloped Bricks. (URL) will see you get both inside and outside corners for doing the 90 degree (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My new Inn of many gable ends...

(...) Thanks (...) Are you saying my Inn has big hips! :-) Say that to the wrong significant other and there will be hell to pay. Seriously I did learn the error of my definition of "gable". Although in my own defense many people do call the 1x2 (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) feudal (...) also (...) throw (...) This is good advice. In fact, the building of a large castle could be quite a story in itself. You could set it up with workmen, carts full of bricks, scaffolding, and chronicle the process on a website. (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  My Giant? Castle in progress

Here are a few pics of the castle I'm working on. First is a rough layout that I did up in Excel using square cells that represent a 4x4 Lego area: (URL) purple rectangle in the center will be the king's quarters, or area where all the royalty (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My Giant? Castle in progress

Geez ... the humbler has arrived;) Michael Ulring is the master of large castles and it looks like he has come to answer the call. I guess most of us can see what it takes now (i.e. - stacks and stacks of 1x5x7 walls.) I will put everything into (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

A taste of things to come (Castle Website)

Ok ... Let me know what you think so far: (URL) will talk about this a lot more later on ... right now I need tons of input from everyone (via e-mail or lugnet). I tried to set this up so it would be highly changable, but before it's officially out, (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: A taste of things to come (Castle Website)

(...) Aaaah!!!! Amazing, I love it! (How did you do that so quickly?) OK, I'm definitely gonna work on this tomorrow - I can't now but I will take (digital) photos of my characters and I will soon start to build my castle. Somehow this makes the (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)
