its a toughie.
depends what sort of things you are looking to build. If (like me) you are
not adverse to using the 'prefab' castle wall pieces 10000 is your kit, it
also has the advantage of supplying a greater number of minifigs to boost
your army numbers. 3739 boasts a better amount of basic bricks and a nice
array of grey basic brick which is good, but you will need more of em as
basic bricks get eaten up real fast if you only use them. Therefore for
parts I'd tend towards 10000 (remember they are both cracking sets tho with
really nice design)
Lots of other sets can be rifled for castle suitable parts, starwars is a
good example, Harry potter might not supply as many good parts as you might
think at first, but hagrids hut is top for parts (they are on sale at 1/2
price in the UK and I've brought about 6 of them for parts). The monster
studios won't supply you with lots of parts, but like Harry Potter it does
have some interesting pieces.
If your inventive you can find nice parts for castle mocs in most lines.
