Hi,
I'm trying to produce a realistic minifig head with povray. I tried severals
head parts in MLcad but the result after conversion with L3P is always not very
good. I tried LGEO parts but it is too old and only supports a very early
version of the minifig head.
I tried the mesh enhancer from L. Teichert. The result is a little bit better
but still looks not very realistic. Espacially the upper part of the head still
has a lot of corners. And the mouth seems to disappear with mesh enhancer?!
L. Teichert is unreachable under his old mail addy...he has a small gallery with
really nice minifig renderings. So I think there is a way to reach a better
result.
Every idea or hint is very welcome!

Sven

Taking the risk of being flamed again, I recall there were some minifig heads
made using inline POV-code for use in L3P. If they can be spotted or reproduced,
you (and I) will have very realistic minifig heads without compromizing the
enourmous advantage of L3P's simplicity and resource economy.

With very little effort, I found this link:

with this pretty little face (left = inline POV and right: standard LDraw)

I had to adjust two little code flaws, but it's very little sweat. (Hey, it took
less than 30 minutes to locate Paul Easter's file, copy, adjust, render, and
finally write this post.

I'm very sad that EmbPOV isn't allowed in official parts - but then again, it's
completely allowed in private, unofficial folders! :D

Would you be so kind as to add those (and any others you find) to the POV parts
repository on the LDraw wiki, please.

I'll try - if I get enough time.
There is a potential problem with the studs on top of the heads that I haven't
solved yet.
Btw, I found these beauties by Chuck Sommerville, too:

Hi guys, thank you very much for so many good answers in a very short time. I found Anton Raves converter page yesterday. In the end the converted data was useless for me and his documentation is unreadable on a Windows PC :-( As so many others Lutz (...) (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)
