Here are some steps to get it working. Be advised that MSIE might use
a temporary directory or file name which breaks version 1.6.
1) Run LDLite, set the LDRAW path and verify that it can display .dat files.
2) Left-click on "My Computer" and select "Explore"
3) In the File Explorer window, select the "View->Folder Options"
menu selection.
4) Go to the "File Types" tab.
5) Scroll down and double click on the "ldlite Document" line. If there
is no "ldlite Document" line, you probably skipped step 1.
6) In the "Content Type" field, type in "application/x-ldraw"
7) In the "Actions" area, Click on the "New..." button. For the
Action name, type "open". For the filename, browse to the location of
ldlite.exe
Now whenever MSIE encounters a file that the Web Site tells it is of
type application/x-ldraw, it will open ldlite. If you have a web
site, you need to tell your server that .dat files are associtated
with application/x-ldraw for this to work for visitors.
For Netscape,, go to the Netscape menu item
Edit/Preferences/Navigator/Applications, select "ldlite Document",
Edit, and set the mime type to application/x-ldraw.

| (...) Yeah, I did all those steps and LDLite launches now. But yeah, IE is too smart (dumb...) for this. I even tried moving the temporary internet files folder to one without spaces (you can move it in options), but it moved it to my folder and (...) | (...) Thanks. I'll try to get the version 1.5 up on that page soon, I realized after that I overlooked making that available as well. And a quick question, how do you configure LDLite to launch from a browser, namely MSIE 5.0? -Tim (25 years ago, 22-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
