I don't see much of a need for this, other than saying programs can claim they
are "LDraw Compatible".

Obviously .dat files have become integrated with part files. I like .ldr or .ldm for 'LDraw Model.' .mpl for (...) (27 years ago, 10-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
