Sorry I didn't respond sooner, Mike. Anyway, Travis is right. It's especially
easy to make services out of simple little scripts with a utility called
ThiService (http://wafflesoftware.net/thisservice/).
For what it's worth, the scripts are extremely trivial - they simply open the
following URLs with the selection appended:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?v=2&catType=P&q=
http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptscan.cgi?q=
http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=
http://peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/psearch?limit=parts&query=
Services may be a Mac thing, but I'm sure something similar could be done for
Windows, at least if you copy the selection first. Maybe you could make a tray
menu thingy that opens those URLs with the clipboard contents as the query?
