To be clear, getting trail line when rotating lines is what I could not
reproduce.

Chris (and Don),

I can reproduce this.  It appears that changing between standard views after
editing (not necessarily spinning) will do it.  The behavior is actually
different for me with the Apple OpenGL versus ATI.  With Apple, the trans
color
just disappears, like Chris's pictures.  With ATI, a pattern shows up in the
trans color while spinning, as in the following image (trans-neon green 2x1
plate in center, also note the 43722/3 wedge plates' outlines don't disappear
when spinning in the filled-box mode):

Tom, you don't have an account on my machine, so I don't think this link
is going to work :)

In ATi mode, trans orange gets some speckles while rotating, but
dissappears at the end of the rotation.

In Apple mode, the trans orange and clear are mottled during rotation,
and mottled at the end of the rotation.

One question, Chris, how much performance difference do you see between the
ATI
and Apple OpenGL on your PowerBook?  I've been trying to get some idea of the
extent to which the latter might be making use the G4's vector unit.

I don't know any other way to force one or the other driver to load than
setting different screen resolutions, and I don't know if a fair
comparison can be made that way. After all, rotating a model at 640x480
has got to take less juice than a rotation at 1024x768, no?

Anyway, rotating my GP30 in -LE mode at -v3 isn't bad to redraw it,
however, takes a 9 count.

Rotating my GP30 at -v5 is somewhat painfull. It is very jumpy, so
getting the model just where you want it isn't possible. Redrawing the
modeltakes a 10 count.

Chris
