rendering engine? I've loved the Artemis Project study since it was published:
  I expect that extending the AoI interface will be simpler.  A rendering
engine isn't really that difficult.  The complexity is in file handling and UI.
3D rendering is pretty straight-forward.  And, the ldr file format is more
renderer friendly than user friendly.

  This is interesting.  I wasn't aware of it.  I'll need to give it a good look.
