I wasn't too enthusiastic about conference calls when I first
heard W3C talk about them. They kind of grew on me as I saw
how effective they were. We could resolve in 5 minutes an
issue that would otherwise take days of elapsed time and hours
of E-mail composition time. In short, the conference calls
turned out to be real time savers.

There needs to be some SC private mail group that only SC
members can read and contribute to. This allows them to
talk freely without having to worry about being "politically
correct". Whenever a topic needs broader discussion, it should
simply be posted to LUGNet.CAD.Dev. Indeed, I suspect that
all written materials should be posted to LUGNet.CAD.Dev as
a matter of principle. If somebody has a strong opinon about
a topic, but is not an SC member, they can be invited onto the
conference call for that topic. (This happened a few times
with some HTML topics.)
Whether you use Yahoo or some private mail list, is a matter of
choice. I prefer private mail lists, but most people wind up
using Yahoo since it is so darn easy to set up.
