I've been thinking more about this, I'm not sure what a good "next" would
be. The current <http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptqueue.cgi queue page> works
on sort of the current data. Posting a review upsets that sort, so it's
hard to say "give me the next file after the one I just did" -- there's no
way to hold the old sort.
My next thought was to implement a processing queue - give each file a
number as it's submitted, with the numbers always incrementing. As each
file is reviewed or updated, it gets a new number -- it goes to the end of
the line. This would make it easy to have a cgi that would return the
'next' file.
But if we move parts to the end of the queue when they get a review, we're
going to keep parts on the tracker longer (if everyone works the queue,
after a file gets one review, it will have to wait for 700 more reviews
before it gets its second review). Also, the files that no one can deal
with will tend to accumulate at the beginning of the list, making the queue
less useful.
At this point, I'm starting to think the best 'next file' function should be
basically random, with allowances to avoid (a) files you've already
reviewed, (b) files that are in 'hold' or 'need admin review'.
I'm open to suggestions.
Steve
