For patterned parts that occur together in a set -- say, for example, the
various patterned parts from a Han Solo minifig (from the Star Wars theme) --
that have been or are being encoded as LCAD data files, shouldn't we be
co-ordinating these pattern numbers so they match? I used "ps5" as the pattern
number for the minifig head, I'm using "ps5" for the hips and leg (for the
gunbelt pattern [1]).
But, "ps5" is *not* the pattern number being used for the corresponding
*torso*! Instead, the minifig torso (the one w/ the black vest [2]) is
currently using "ps4", while "ps5" is being used for the Darth Vader torso...
:-/
So, I'm asking, is this a problem, and if so, can we renumber one or more of
these files so that the Han Solo patterned parts will all have the same,
corresponding pattern number? The LCAD FAQ [3] says that "common patterns"
will have "common pattern numbers", so I believe my idea has at least some
merit. Please LMKWYT.
Thanks!
Franklin
(Footnotes):
1. I'm almost finished with the leg, BTW, FWIW...
2. The torso with the black vest is the one which comes with the gunbelt
legs/hips...

| (...) This sounds like a sensible suggestion. The change should of course be made, so there are only minimal (if any) changes to the names of already published parts. Jacob (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

| (...) When reasonable, yes, we should. If I make the Johnny Thunder face today, but don't make his torso for a couple of years, I wouldn't expect that the same pattern number will necessarily be available later. There are too many patterns for that. (...) (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
