A number of other 3D modellers suppourt the use of texture mapping?
Are there plans to include it in Lego CAD type programs?

It would be a great way to put patterns on pieces! But it might be too big a
step away from LDRAW?

BlockCAD I Think Already suports it in a limited sense?

Yes. Limited in (at least) three ways:

- No support for it from the piece editor, has to be made with a text editor
on the part definition directly.
- Only _one_ textured polygon per part (this is the real problem)
- Insufficient speed when rendering (will be worked on...)
