  Re: stl2dat conversion tool beta2

(...) GREAT TOOL ! I haven't had time to check if the stl supports NURBS, or is it just a normal poligon based format ? I have currently the TECHNIC Tire and Wheel done, the ones that came with the 8880 Super Car model (without the lines/optional (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) STL only support triangles. Nurbs (and other geometry) must be converted by the CAD software to triangles. That's why I choosed STL : it already contains triangles and that's very near LDraw format. (In a geometric point of view) (...) Yes, I (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: stl2dat conversion tool beta2

(...) Ok, my cad program can do that, but I have to mess with it because the options to tesselate a surface are somewhat complex, at least if you want to be able to have some control on the number of polys generated. Does STL allow only for (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Both those constant should be configurable, eventually within predefined ranges. Maybe You should allow the use of the abs() function to be optional, because if the face normal are correctly calculated (the faces are well defined, CCW or CW) (...) (...) Until here the ascii ART is correct, but from here on forward it's NOT, because the ascii art is representing a front view, and nothing tells you that poly [1 3 4 2] is coplanar with tri [3 6 4] In fact if you read the previous mails carefully (...)
