There were some suggestions for description changes on the new parts.  Any
support for these changes, or leave the parts as-is?

2871.dat  http://hugin.ldraw.org/JJ_Memorial/voting/2871.gif
Current Description:  Electric Train Motor  9V Decorative Side
New suggestion:    Electric Train Motor  9V Bogie Detail

Speaking as the author of this part,  I like the idea of using the word
"Bogie" in the description. But also I would like to express in the name
that you normally clip this part on the side of the train motor.
So I would prefer the following description:

Electric Train Motor  9V Bogie Side Clip

I favor this one as well.

32059.dat  http://hugin.ldraw.org/JJ_Memorial/voting/32059.gif
Current Description: Plate  4 x  6 without Corners
  New suggestion:   Plate  4 x  6 Tapered

Me being a NENS (No English Native Speaker) "without Corners" sounds more
familiar to me than "Tapered".

I agree.  And as Steve pointed out, there is precedence for "without Corners",
whereas there is none for "Tapered".

30250.dat  http://hugin.ldraw.org/JJ_Memorial/voting/30250.gif
Current Description: Brick  2 x  4 x  3 Notched with Side  5 x  4 Plate
  New suggestion:   Bracket  4 x  7 x  3 Notched with Cutout
  New suggestion:   Bracket  4 x  7 x  3 Top Notched without Corners
New suggestion:   Bracket  4 x  7 x  3 with Cutout and Top Notch

Steve answered:

[snip]
None of these [existing Brackets...] provide any description of shape,
except for the brackets with studs in two different directions.  So this
piece could be simply:

30250.DAT     Bracket  4 x  7 x  3

I agree with Steve

Cow-like, I will follow this herd and agree.

I would like to point out that the suggestion below is not workable. The
word "Plants" in the original description serves as the category name in
LDAO's VEC.
Changing it by dropping the 's' in 'Plants' would force the VEC to place
this piece in an entirely different category. Please try to keep this in
mind when suggesting new descriptions.

30093.dat
Current Description:  Plants Sea Grass
  New suggestion:    Plant Sea Grass

Steve answered:

You are correct.  But the category name should have been 'Plant' to begin
with, to match the singular style of other categories.

Maybe the solution is to tackle the problem later and rename the whole
category to "Plant" in Terry's next LMU  (LDraw Maintenance Update :-)

Beat me to it!  I was just going to say that I could do it.  There is no
compelling reason to favor "Plants" over "Plant".
It just happened to turn out that way.   Change it I will, yes, hmmm...

(...) The term "bogie" refers to the _swivelling_ function of a wheelset. I can't see what about 2871 marks it with that function. The addition of a bogie plate to the motor would give a bogie function, but that doesn't have much to do with 2871. (...) (25 years ago, 19-May-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
