Hi, im new to ldraw but can't seem to find the baseplate that was out
in the 80's that had the craters and ridge on it. Is it in ldraw?
Sorry if it's a stupid question just starting out!

Also, is there any site that has .dats of space sets?

No, the cratered baseplate has not been done.  That one may take a while, as it
would be pretty difficult to model.

I once started to make it, but, as Terry says, it _is_ pretty difficult
to model.
I have the plate with the proper studs on it and the complete outline of
the "hill".
Wasn't there someone that could convert 3D Studio Max to DAT. I think it
would be fairly easy to make the hill and craters with Max and convert
it and place it on the baseplate...

Good idea.  That would probably simplify it a great deal.  The problem is that
Onyx (who wrote the Max2Dat) may not have that baseplate to model from.
