Lars Hassing is working on this mechanism, but it is slow in coming. Here is the thread that Lars’ work is based on:

Lars actually already sent me his code, and I integrated it into LDView. It isn’t in the LDView 3 Beta 1 release, but all the unnoficial test releases I’ve made since then (Beta 1A through Beta 1E) use his code. And if you build LDView yourself from its SourceForge source tree (which anyone can do, by the way), you’ll get a version supporting it.
