  Re: Piece authoring question...

Dave Schuler wrote in message ... (...) There should never be coincident faces in a part. It will confuse all rendering programs including PovRay. The color of the overlapping area will fluctuate (according to rounding errors) between the two (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: legality of entering LDraw files into POVray contest

(...) I don't believe there are (or could be any) legal ramifications from you entering a Lego model in a POV contest. Just don't render 'Lego' on the studs is what I'd say, or make it too small so its unreadable. But TLG doesn't get upset at us for (...) (25 years ago, 17-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

legality of entering LDraw files into POVray contest

I was wondering, if I enter one of the models I've made into a POVray contes, will I get into trouble with LEGO because not everyone will automatically know it's not an actual LEGO sanctioned project, or must I only include information about LDRaw (...) (...) would >LDraw represent a DAT which had layered images? For that matter, (...) If you layer the levels by a very small amount (.00001 or something), it'll render nicely in POV-Ray after being converted with L3P. However, it'll look awful in (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

[Replying in .cad & .cad.dev to a message posted in .cad.dat.parts; Followups to .cad.dev] (...)   Piece authoring question...

When designing a part with a graphic on it, like a minifig torso, for instance, is it possible to "overlap" image shapes of different colors, or must there only be one "level" of image on a surface? How would LDraw represent a DAT which had layered (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Should it stay this way, or should we move towards a more structured organization? If so, what are the criteria for membership? Does the group need a leader(s), and if yes, what is the role(s) of the leader(s)? (...) But it (or the JJ (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDraw DAT certification for clones?

(...) ?? (...) I agree. It looks to me that the article could be edited for clarity and layout. Someone with better knowledge of the DAT file than me want to do that? Either I or someone else can put it in the ldraw.org page format, the template is (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Right now, the website pretty much *is* the organization. We don't have a membership list, or a secret handshake, or even a definition of who's in the group. I'm alright with this loose organization, but I feel that there isn't a big point of (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
