Considering that the last 1-4disc seems to allow the bubbles to show through,
and Steve's comment "The stuff at the top of the file is more likely to be drawn
and stay drawn", could all of the filler quads and triangles be replaced with
one disk at the end of the pattern?  Otherwise, what's a good way to fill in the
space around the bubbles?

So it's a good thing to put "important" elements, like the pattern, earlier in the file, but it's no guarantee they won't be overdrawn by coincident features. So it's not sufficient[1] to move the (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
