There does seem to be a strangeness about 30367.dat (Cylinder  2 x  2 with Dome

and appears as an unoffical part in the LDraw part tracker, but the header says
'Official LCAD Part - 2000-02 Update'

That's because the history of this DAT goes like this:

1. I wrote the part, it was officially released as 553.dat in 2000.
2. The real part number was discovered, and the part was moved from 553 to
30367.
3. There hasn't been another parts update to put the new 553.dat (stub) and
30367.dat files into the official library.

So I guess you could set up your MPD to use 553.dat, since that's currently the
actual official reference number for this part.

I can't find any references except to LDAO, but I'll keep looking. I did find
http://news.lugnet.com/cad/dev/?n=7313 but frankly, I haven't a clue how to do
it.

Assuming you have LDAO installed, you can do it this way:

Launch LDAO.
Navigate to the folder containing the MPD.
Select the MPD, and click the Edit File button.
The next bit will cause L3Lab/LDView to squawk, if they start up when the editor
does...
At the top of the file, add the 0 TRANSFORM line (like in the posting you
referenced).
At the very end of the file, add the 0 TRANSFORM END line.
Press ctl-A to highlight the entire file.
Click Tool > LDL 2 DAT.
Check the results.  If they look OK, then save the file.

(...) Right, done that and got rid of the errors, thanks for pin-pointing the location. Strangely all the 'missing' primitives were already in the .mpd file. I've also got rid of 553.dat There does seem to be a strangeness about 30367.dat (Cylinder (...) (16 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.models)
