Not too much to add except this... drive letters can be used not only for
things like CDs but also for subdirectories of existing hard drives. (1)

So you could set up a directory like

C:\mumble\LDrawCDimage\

then do a NET USE like

net use l: \\mymachine\C$\mumble\LDrawCDimage

(where mymachine is your machine and C$ is the default share for your C drive)

Now do all your installs to L:\LDRAW and when you configure all the tools to
run right, make sure you say L:\LDRAW as the home instead of
C:\mumble\LdrawCDimage\LDRAW... don't forget to do a partslist generate in
MLCad and all other things that would require writing to ini or config files
etc...

Then burn your CD.

If you then put the CD into a machine and do a net use for L: to that
machine's mountpoint you should be all set.

I haven't tested this, I'm just guessing. Hope it helps.

1 - I know this because I use them when embedding images in Word using Word
Basic... it can't seem to embed images using relative pathing, wants an
absolute path. So I use "net use" to ensure that the absolute path is short
and easy to set up for my printing subcontractor...

Shaun, Not sure if this will help you or not, but there is an old dos command named SUBST, which will substitute a drive letter and path for another. For instance you could type Subst L: D:\ and that will create an L drive on your system that refers (...) (22 years ago, 26-Nov-02, to lugnet.cad)
