Paul,

I have answered some of your points below.

I just downloaded (and set up) MLCAD yesterday. I used the latest edition, • and
it created a parts list.

But I've downloaded some of the DAT files from the models group and • several
things are puzzling me. I looked at the excellent tutorial, but did not • see the
answers to my questions in it - it is mostly concerned with creating a • model
from scratch, not program administration.

Anyway, here we go:

1) Is there an MLCAD FAQ that answers these questions? Should this be the • start
of one, along with other requests for help in previous threads? I could • compile
it...

2) How do you tell if a file should take the DAT or MPD extension?

MLCAD will automatically select it for you.  If your DAT file incorporates
other DAT files, it becomes an MPD (Multi-Part Dat file).

3) Why do some files show step-by-step instructions to build a model and • others
show only the completed model?

Many people do not include the STEP command into their model, I assume.  I
know that only some of the files I have seen use them.

4) What is a recursive included submodel, and how do I fix it?

A recursive included submodel would be a model that includes itself as a
submodel, which, as a submodel, would include another copy of itself and so
on.

5) How do I tell what parts files I should download from the parts • directory?

6) Why, when I click on the DAT link in the web-interface message listing • to
download a file, does the resultant file name ALWAYS default to • ldraw.cgi??

That is the way it is set up with the LUGNET cgi-bin, I believe.  I would
really like it if it defaulted to .mpd so that it would automatically open
MLCAD.

Thanks for any help you can give...
