Hi Philo,
Good question. In fact, Jim Foltz's su2ldraw plugin does include
LDraw-to-SketchUp import and treatment of type 1 lines as SketchUp components
(subparts). Unfortunately, I was not able to get su2ldraw to work (SketchUp 8 on
Mac OS X - maybe it works fine with other systems). I think it has not been
updated in a few years. I rewrote just the export code I needed for my
windscreen project, partly to help myself understand how it works. However, it
would be very nice to restore su2ldraw (or continue my rewrite) to have access
to primitives as you describe. At least it looks like that was a feature Jim had
in mind even if it was not yet fully functional.
