  "LGEO" and "L3P v1.4 BETA 20080930"

Lutz Uhlmann and I are happy and proud to announce the release of a new large set of the LGEO parts and the supporting L3P. Well, more than seven years since last release of L3P... what can I say? During that time I have had several periods with (...) (18 years ago, 30-Sep-08, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray) !!

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) On Windows (sorry, Jim...) you may use PDFCreator ((URL) It is used as a virtual printer that can output PDFs but also various image format. So you can "print" your instructions with it and create images of any size. Philo (18 years ago, 2-Oct-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) I think that would be useful, too. Based on past correspondence with Kevin, I think it is planned but just hasn't happened yet. What I do is just open the PDF in Preview and save the pages as PNGs. That's how I made the instruction images I've (...) (18 years ago, 2-Oct-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) I think the page image output is replaced by the ability to create PDF files. But I'd like to see this feature too! In other words: 2 options for output: PDF and PNG (whole page) files for every page. (18 years ago, 1-Oct-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) Hi Kevin, I really enjoy the new LPub but sorely miss the page image output. Am I just not spotting it or has it really been removed? I've always liked the ability to edit my files in GIMP to add renders, credit etc. Any chance of putting it (...) (18 years ago, 30-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) It is indeed. I need to place another bufferexchange there. (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

I found one more thing. It appears that at least one of the parts placed in step 7 gets left around inside the model, and is just visible in step 15 as a black rectangle in the center of the bottom. The is visible in both versions of the PDF. (...) (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) You missed a difference on Page 2. In the bottom part, the green arrows are shown in the 4.0.0.1 version, and not in the other version. (...) And round light grey plate 1x1 is not shown either. --Travis (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) I am looking forward to the results, as I am due to deliver building instructions for a project I am working on. I have sent you some personal E-mails about this too. Once again, I thank _you_ for all you effords in creating LPub. (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Slope Brick 1x1

Right. So who is to change the name then? Peeron or LDraw? (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Slope Brick 1x1

(...) But if you use the part properly* it's 31 degrees. The 45 slope is named for its face slope rather than its total slope. Tim * And by properly I, of course, mean use a heap of offsetting to make them all line up ;) (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) Jaco, Thanks for your detailed analysis complete with MPD to allow recreation. I will take if rom here and fix the LPub bugs. Kevin (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub4.0.0.1 available

(...) OK, while testing and playing around with LPub 4 I tried some new techniques I've come up with. I've recreated the "exact" instructions for set 4491. (URL) the same file in LPub 4.0.0.0 and 4.0.0.1 gives different outputs. I've uploaded the (...) (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Slope Brick 1x1

(...) Why does the follow-up go to the Robotics group? This is a CAD / LDraw issue, so it should be lugnet.cad.dat.parts. (My mistake in the first place to post it to lugnet.cad ;-) (18 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Slope Brick 1x1

(...) Hmm. Is there some reason you couldn't just jump right to using Tan? Tan(theta) = opposite/adjacent (18 years ago, 27-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Slope Brick 1x1

(...) The part file has the dimensions needed to answer this question. The triangles on the sides tell you the width and height of the end. From there you can calculate the length of the hypotenuse. h = sqrt(w*w+h*h) the sin of the angle is (...) (18 years ago, 27-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Slope Brick 1x1

Part 50746 is called Slope Brick 33 1 x 1 x 2/3 on Peeron, but this one and and 54200 are called Slope Brick 45 1 x 1 x 2/3 in LDraw and in the unofficial parts. What should it be? 33 of 45 degrees? (18 years ago, 26-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Cool idea for a collaboration/contest

I think it would be cool if people collaborated to create a desktop theme using LDraw/POVRay. Here's one for Disney that kind of gives an idea of what could be done: (URL) (18 years ago, 25-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Color Dithering Chart

In working on getting the new colors into LDConfig.ldr, I thought it helpful to see a visual reference of the color dithering, and I thought that I'd share it for those that are interested: (URL) W. (18 years ago, 24-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)
