  DATHeader New Release

The problem is fixed. Now it should be possible to process files with approx. size by 1.5 GByte. Sorry for the trouble that maybe caused this bug to you. cu mikeheide (19 years ago, 4-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: DATHeader ALERT!

(...) I seem to recall it was written in VB? If so, the VB text box has a content size limit of 65K. The only way around this is to work on an in memory string buffer and not store (and read back) the result in the text box. (19 years ago, 2-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad)

  DATHeader ALERT!

Please do not use DATHeader on files that exceed 64k because they will be cut at 64k. I will investigate that problem later. I fixed the problem that I had by mirrored subfiles. cu mikeheide (19 years ago, 2-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPUB question

(...) Hi Ludo, There is a bug in the l3p program that LPub uses, causing a single part to always look gray when rendered. To fix this you can either (1) go in MLCAD and create a duplicate of the part in the exact same space (I usually take this (...) (19 years ago, 2-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  LPUB question

Hi, I do have a simple question. I made a ldr file with one piece, 70501B (Minifig Coin with 20 Mark). I colored it yellow, then saved the file and rendered it using LPUB (V. 2.2.0.1). My "problem" now is: Why is my rendered coin always gray, (...) (19 years ago, 1-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) I wanted to thank the LSC for their hard work on this topic. Good job bringing it to fruition. Kevin (Charter Member of the LSC) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Yes. That will go into the new "-y is up" section. I'm open to suggestions on the exact wording on this section, but I suspect that we can copy from the authors' guide document, which I believe already describes this. --Travis (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Also important is the fact that LDraw's model world is in a right-handed coordinate system. The current draft doesn't mention this. Steve (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Travis, I'm quite satisfied with your dual format explanation. It is simple and concise. Kevin (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Travis, I have *had to add* support for blanks in LPub, because so many kids expect to be able to use them. Unfortunatly, kids won't read the spec, they will just do what comes naturally. I'm an old goat, so I'm personally not a fan of blanks (...) (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) I agree, and believe that both my proposed "sample matrices" as well as Tim's "transformation equation" will go into the final spec. --Travis (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Actually, SGI released OpenGL in 1992, and (according to ldraw.org) James released LDraw in 1995. So OpenGL predates LDraw by 3 years. (...) Good point. You are correct that -y is "up". I don't see that anywhere in the spec, and it's quite (...) (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Let me restate the above.....because I think I'm wrong about the timeline. LDraw is a stand alone specification, so what OpenGL expects is not relevent. The LDraw specification must specify what its coordinate and matricies formats mean, (...) (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - Call for Public Comments

(...) Hi Rob, Not to be indelicate, but LDraw was around *before* OpenGL. That said, I think the document *must* explicitly show something like this: a b c d e f g h i Furthermore I think the document must explain x, y and z. If I remember correctly (...) (19 years ago, 28-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

  L(EGO)Draw parts

Hi folks, as announced in this thread: (URL) members of the Steering Committee (SteerCo) have been in contact with LEGO to look at ways of working together to ease the conversion between the LEGO Digital Designer and the LDraw System Of Tools.   Re: Last minute LDraw.org contest reminder

(...) I'm still going through Tim Courtney's (et al) "Virtual Lego" book, so it will be a little while before I know enough to make something worth contributing. But I will eventually :) Rob (19 years ago, 27-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Last minute LDraw.org contest reminder

Since LDraw.org now requires at least five entries to proceed with each Model and Scene of the Month contest ((URL) I just want to encourage everyone with any interesting LDraw models to send them in so the show can go on. Rules and submission (...) (19 years ago, 27-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.2 Released ***

(...) As a fellow software developer, I understand the need for people to report issues they come across. Sadly, we just do not have the time, money, hardware, patience, etc to test every scenario while still writing all the new stuff as well. On (...) (19 years ago, 24-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.2 Released ***

Haha! I love the thumbnail feature! Too cool. Awesome work. -Stefan- (19 years ago, 24-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.2 Released ***

(...) Thanks. Glad to hear that the problem has corrected itself. And even though that happened, I'm still glad that you reported your problem. I actually don't get enough bug reports from LDView. I'd say about half the bugs that I see and fix are (...) (19 years ago, 24-Aug-07, to lugnet.cad)
