Yes... Actually, you're right... The problem is more of a hystorical one,
since at the origin we (my student and I) started to talk about a
"mechanical cad"... in spanish ("Cad Mecanico") and the new name followed
that, without thinking too much about it. I think that, for a future
version, we should re-babtize it to something like LeoMCAD or something more
in the lines oyu suggest.
With respect to LDraw compatibility... The original LeoCAD package was
able to import/export LDraw files without any problem, and so LeoCAM
(LeoMCAD? :)) does. LeoCAD also uses an alternative file format, but we
mainly used the LDraw comptibility to build the system. Even the companion
new lci files use the original LDraw coordinate system!! So, just in case I
misunderstood the question, I think IT IS Ldraw compatible! If you meant
something else, please correct me.

Again, thanks for the naming suggestions!

  yours

Gustavo.-

I haven't had a chance to check out your program, although it sounds very
promising.  However, the name is kind of confusing, since CAM usually stands
for Computer Aided Manufacturing.  So, CAM usually refers to designing and
preparing parts for manufacture by computer controlled machines.  Perhaps a
name like LeoSnap or iLeoCAD (for intelligent LeoCAD) would be more
appropriate?  Any plans on making a MLCAD/LDraw compatible version?
