Re: LCad Parts Update 2000-02 Now Available

(...) Sure, I just sent you a message with the file attached. For people who can't get to ldraw.org, the file should be available from Mike Stanley's mirror site in a few days. Steve (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: wrong part number? - LCad Parts Update 2000-02

(...) For most parts, the number stamped in the part is a general number -- it applies to the part, in any color. The actual part numbers used by TLC are a combination of the general number and a color code. This part is unusual, because the number (...) (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad)

  MLCAD - l3p - POVray

Hello! OK.. just need a short help/hint. I've set up today the MLCad-l3p-povRay combination and it works fine except for one thing. When I render a minifig with a helmet the helmet looks crappy. That means you see the rendering lines of the helmet (...) (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Has the minfig gem been done?

I'm speaking of the little 1x1 gem found in many ninja sets, ocatgonal with a tiny cylinder at the base... i can't find it on any parts pages or updates and can't locate it in the partlist. J (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

wrong part number? - LCad Parts Update 2000-02

Steve, I found a possible error in the update. The Minifig Sword Greatsword was released as part # 59. I submitted it as part # 71014. (I got that number from the part itself, inside the pommel.) What happened? Franklin (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad)

Anybody working on a real 30366?

Just wanted to know because I get a little sick of the mockup version when I povray it. It's very strange that nobody has made an official 30366(tie fighter canopy) because it is used in so many sets. Ps. with an official 30366 I only mean the part (...)   Re: tubing  [DAT]

In lugnet.cad.dev, Larry Pieniazek writes: Ok, for anyone that wants to give this a whirl... I've attached a sample MPD. It has tubing the length I expect... 14 plates high. It renders fine in MLCad and in L3Lab (using the versions I posted (...) (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: part skins (was Re: some thoughts on ldraw parts)

(...) Two small problems... 1. you have to create the graphic. For a complex torso this is hard. 2D helps but there still are a lot of triangles. Hence my suggestion for an authoring tool to help with this task. (if MLCad could allow display a (...) (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: part skins (was Re: some thoughts on ldraw parts)

I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned yet, but 'skins' wouldn't be very hard to implement at all...in fact it HAS been done (although not in this context *). Simply make a two-dimensional part for each graphic and create a Graphic or Decal (...) (24 years ago, 29-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

More tips for L3P (was: Re: LDraw.exe)

(...) Try this: assume you have L3P.exe in the C:\Pov directory, the Ldraw programs in the C:\Ldraw directory, and the shortcut for L3P I've described previously. With Notepad you make a new file with the following content: @ECHO OFF SET (...) (24 years ago, 29-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: part skins (was Re: some thoughts on ldraw parts)

  Re: LDraw.exe

All right! I figured out how to use LDraw! As I was working on how to get L3P working as per Manfred Moolhuysen's instructions (Re: I can't run L3P), I realized that both L3P and LDraw are DOS programs. So I followed his directions for L3P and (...) (24 years ago, 29-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
