I was blown away *before* I saw the real thing, but it's even
more amazing when you see how close it is to the original
(however not in 1:1 scale :-) ).

Well, the real cat *was* that size at some point a few years ago, so it
could have been a perfect 1:1 model, except he grew up.

Took you some time to finish then? :)

Also, what did the cat think of it's ABS-replica? :)

<<snip>>

I had noticed that Ringo (the real cat) had come downstairs while I was
wrapping, but didn't think much of it until I heard the distinctive sound of
a cat stopping dead in its tracks.  I immediately realized that this must be
Ringo encountering LEGO Ringo.  I rushed over and saw Ringo about 25cm from
the sculpture, skulking low to the ground, and seriously on alert.  He
approached the model very, very slowly and with extreme caution, and the
slightest noises I would make, like an odd breath, or my shoulder leaning
against the wall, would send him jumping backward several inches, his stare
fixed on the LEGO cat as if the sounds might have come from it instead of me.

LOL!

It was greatly amusing to watch.  I ran over to get a video camera to try to
tape this for Lila, but didn't have a blank tape handy.  So I grabbed the
digital still camera and snapped some shots, but it was mostly over by that
point.  Ringo was had managed to skulk all the way up to it and was sniffing
LEGO Ringo's whiskers and head.  By the time Lila got up, Ringo was back to
treating LEGO Ringo like the inanimate object it is.

Bummer, the video cam should always be keept ready for launch :)

Looking back, I have to wonder if it was all just Ringo's shock at finding
something - anything - in *his* spot.  I wonder if a box of ceral would have
produced similar results.  But that's an experiment for another day.  @8^)

I don't think he would approach another obecjt with such care.

Reminds me of our cat that was seriously afraid of a plush cat for about an
hour (to my amusement).
