    New sculpture: Maneki Neko (Japanese good luck cat) —William R. Ward
   The Maneki Neko, literally "Beckoning Cat," is a good luck charm used widely in Japanese business establishments and homes. It is believed to invite in fortune and good luck to its owner.      Lucky cat! :) Very, very cool. I haven't thought about doing this as a sculpture, but I'm really impressed. :) I like the raised kanji. Su-goi! I checked out how you did the arms.      (...) I haven't had builder's block--just havne't had the time to work on my LEGO projects (in escrow on a house, don't move until March 8).      (...) Congrats on the house! I've built a few town things for the BayLTC layout, but I've had trouble getting a sculpture idea to take form.      (...) Thanks! Yes they are pretty ubiquitous in Japanese shops. Some Chinese restaurants have them too. There are actually several kinds; some are for good luck and some are for money; the kanji on the coin the cat is holding and which arm is raised (...)
