It was voted "NWBC06 Best in Show".

     WOW!  It deserved the win!
     I thought you were being sarcastic about the plywood and staples until I
looked through your Brickshelf folder - neat idea!  I'm afraid I'm a little slow
today, though...does it pin the wing assembly to the body assembly, or does it
work to keep the 2-1/2 to 3 ft of each wing stable as it cantilevers out into
the air?  Or both?  Or am I missing it?
     Either way, I greatly enjoyed the pics - very nice sculpture!

(...) Thanks! The 'pins' (axle-2) are used only to 'glue' the front face 'sheet' to the wing base 'sheet'. There is enough tension/compression that it is extremely unlikely to come apart without intent. The axles (captured 3-1/2 w/stud) on the (...) (18 years ago, 13-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Here are a few pics of my Northwest Artifact (Totem Pole). It is 6 feet tall, has a 7-1/2 foot wingspan and uses about 20,000 bricks and plates. The technology I developed to enable such massive (and thin) wings is called Plywood and Staples. The (...) (18 years ago, 12-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX) !!
