In fact, each time TLC has produced a new part I've been amazed how the part fit
well the System....how the part GEOMETRY fit well the System (I don't want to
upset people about bleys). It's noticeably true when talking about SNOT parts.
I'm wandering how people at TLC work about geometric compatibility when
designing a new part, for sure they don't check all statistic possibilities.
AFOLs sometimes are lucky enough to meet in person some LEGO designer (designer
for sets) but my dream is to be able to chat with a LEGO part designer !!
For sure some parts are not "perfect" (in an AFOL POV).
For instance, as Frank said, the stud is a bit more thick than 0.2 LDU (this
fact is widely unknown among AFOLs, and this weird dimension is not due to the
LEGO logo on the studs).
Another example is the groove of tiles. Groove is usefull to remove a tile from
a plate (is this reason the first and the unique one ?) but causes irregularity
on a flat surface when used in a SNOTty way.
Click hinges....they might be cool if they would have not totally replaced old
hinges. Every change from "continue" to "discret" should be dealed with care.
(from my point of view, these "discret" parts are a kind of juniorization).
Anyway, nice schleim Tim,
Didier
