I just discovered a simple technique today for doing odd brick width
SNOT, thus getting around the 2 in the 5:2 rule. I couldn't think of
having seen it before so maybe it is new (although it seems
unlikely). Anyway, I thought I'd share it since I think it's quite
handy, especially for six-wide train builders.

Have you actually tried this out? From the back, I see you have 1x2/1x4
brackets plugged into the back of washing machine bricks. I think the 2nd
studs on the brackets will collide with the studs on the top of the washing
machine bricks (remember, a stud is ever so slightly taller than 1/2 a plate
thickness).

Hi Frank,

I hadn't tested it but just did and it works fine. I've never had any trouble
sticking plates into the back of headlight bricks before either. It is probably
because the top of studs is slightly angled thus removing collisions. I'm
constantly reminded that the part designers at Lego are very, very clever.

Of course if they had been very, very, very clever, they would have figured out how to have the stud height (...) (19 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.schleim)

(...) Yep, the studs touch but it works just fine. By the way, this is an awesome technique, and I'll be stealing...er, borrowing...it myself, without a doubt. Derek (19 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)
