Fun With LEGO® "Hot Wheels" (Pics)

I bought a bunch of the new little Racer sets (I affectionately call them "LEGO Hot Wheels":-) because they contain so many of the fun new elements, and my son Ross started playing around with them, and (URL) voila>. Some good schleiming going on in (...) (19 years ago, 14-Dec-05, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.schleim, lugnet.town, FTX) !

Re: Implecations of 6 LEGO Units Thick Fence

(...) Oh, yeah, that's great. Nice work. later, James Mathis (19 years ago, 2-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

Re: Implecations of 6 LEGO Units Thick Fence

(...) Well I decided to play around some more with it. And got a 3ldu offset and a 7ldu offset (both possible in studs up and SNOT 90). The same technique can make a protruding door (outset?) with 7ldu out or 3ldu out. All this assume I have my (...) (19 years ago, 2-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: Alco-like Cuban Sugar Train

(...) I forgot to mention in the post (and to X-post to .schleim) that I've added the grille work separately to BS to make it easier to see the technique. You can find it in this (URL). Tim (19 years ago, 22-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: Opening Door

(...) --SNIP-- (...) Well, I took Mark's suggestion to use a bracket and an idea I'd had to use a panel to make more space for the arms and came up with this solution. I prefer the one Bruce suggested but I wanted one without the gap as well. I (...) (19 years ago, 20-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: Opening Door

--SNIP-- (...) --SNIP-- (...) Thanks for posting this. I saw it on BS and was wondering if it was posted in response to my query. It's a nice solution and should work for double doors when the space can be left free. Tim (19 years ago, 16-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: Opening Door

(...) snip (...) snip (...) I saw doors, on somebody's bus MOC a while ago, that opened using only one droid arm and thought they were cool. So I added them to one of James Mathis's Club Trolleys that I had built. It took me about an hour to add (...) (19 years ago, 16-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: Opening Door

Hi Mark, (...) However if we reduce the width of the door by one plate as I suggested we free up the 90degree requirement (which is why I suggested it). As such, I can't help but feel that a dual pivot solution should be available. (...) Hmm, I (...) (19 years ago, 16-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.schleim)

  Re: Opening Door

(...) There are two key differences between the plane and your solution: 1. The plane's door is a lot thinner and does not require movement in one straight direction at 90 degrees to the body as your train door does for the first 1L of opening (...)   Opening Door

Dear all, I was looking at the pictures of (URL) 7893> today and noticed that it's doors open by using droid arms as hinges. I wondered if such a technique could be employed in a train an found that yes it could... but with limitations. My first (...) (19 years ago, 16-Nov-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)
