  Re: Optical Illusions

(...) I've seen many of these optical illusions before - though of course not rendered in LEGO. Great job with these pictures. I'm wondering what they would look like rendered in blue and red? Between the optical illusions and the 3-D effects of the (...) (23 years ago, 3-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

My first mosaic...b/w of Buddy Holly

I built my first mosaic. It's a monochrome portrait of Buddy Holly on a 96x112 grid. I used just about all my black bricks on this one!! (URL) minifigs helped me build it...construction pics linked at bottom of page) I'd like to do a color (...) (23 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

So who has seen the new colors in bulk packs/mosaics/etc?

After the news I wanted to secure a supply of mosaic plates in the old greys. Happily for me they are still shipping in the US with the old grey colors - as of last week anyway. Seems that ordering this type of 'perpetual product' could be hit or (...) (23 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build.mosaic)

Nice, I remember looking at some optical illusions before. Nice to see 'em in LEGO. I'd write more, but I can't focus ;) -Anne (...) (23 years ago, 1-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Optical Illusions

(...) Agreed. I was taken aback by their strength. Even if I put a straight edged piece of paper over the bottom half the very next row strongly curves, it's remarkable. (...) Some of these I have seen before (the wavy banded rectanges for example, (...) (23 years ago, 1-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Optical Illusions

(...) Amazing how strong these illusions are! I wonder if they appear just as vivid when you build these with real bricks. Can you reveal what your inspiration source for these optical tricks was? With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen. (23 years ago, 30-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

(...) Jeesh, take it easy, Kevin, he was just joking around with you. @8^D -The Rev. Brian Powell Smith PS. Also, just in passing, amazing work yet again, Eric!   Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) Oops, and three fewer shades of grey to make up for it! (Proving once again that I can't resist a good troll.) I haven't said this yet, but Eric, this is a fantastic mosaic. Once again, breaking new ground and finding a good use for all those (...) (23 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) Aaaand, of course, let's not forget that we have two more shades of grey to add to the standard five-color greyscale mosaics! Eh? Any takers? /ducks --Dave (23 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) Yeah, Keith I wasn't talking about YOUR mom, I was talking about KEVIN'S mom...we all know that it would take a mosaic of about, oh, say, 3000 studs across to accurately portray yo' mama's bulk. But, yeah, sorry 'bout that. I shouldn't post (...) (23 years ago, 21-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

Thanks, You know, it's funny, this one didn't seem nearly as tedious to build as the letter/Calista one. Keeping the orientation straight was not a problem at all. Maybe because this one have fewer than a tenth of the pieces than Calista. eric (...) (23 years ago, 21-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) Never fear Eric, your work can always stand above the tide. Good job again! Another approach that a friend of mine and I were considering was coming up with some sort of averaged-color value for each printed tile and then creating such a (...)
