New MOC: Mi-24 Hind-D SOV (Special Operations Variant) —Chris Klint
As you can probably tell from the relatively austere photos, I'm not quite finished with this model; the tail profile and engine block still need some work, along with the mundane rifles and fanciful 30mm gunpod, but I've made enough progress that (...)         That's quite an extensive backstory you've got there... —Bryce Rollins
...but it goes well with your well done Hind. I like how you incorporated the passenger carrying capacity of the Hind (a feature that I believe is rarely used in real life) to make an all purpose SOF Battlewagon. Also, your use of the 2x2 round tile (...) (22 years ago, 6-Apr-02, to lugnet.build.military)

Building in the passenger capacity was fairly easy; the passengers themselves were the real surprise. Hasn't anybody else used M-Tron backpack harnesses to give minifigs customizable carrying capacity? The Adventurers packs were a beginning, but I (...)         Re: New MOC: Mi-24 Hind-D SOV (Special Operations Variant) —Magnus Lauglo
Very nice, Chris! I've been toying with the idea of building a Hind for some time now, and hopefully will get around to it by the summer in time for Brickfest. I don't know about that five bladed propeller, I'm tempted to just make it a fourbladed (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New MOC: Mi-24 Hind-D SOV (Special Operations Variant) —Chris Klint
Magnus, You've certainly got a point about the main rotor...I'd originally fitted a four-blade model to my Hind too, back before I started going over the aircraft again for realism. It was a close call for me too, but after long consideration I took (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New MOC: Mi-24 Hind-D SOV (Special Operations Variant) —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) An incredible MOC, an incredible backstory. I like them both! A handful of questions: -How did you get the fifth blade on the rotor? -Is that a customized tile on the front of the rocket pod? -The canopies: Have you thought about placing (...)          Re: New MOC: Mi-24 Hind-D SOV (Special Operations Variant) —Chris Klint
Lindsay, The rotor blades were simple enough to build, actually: as I mentioned before, they're based on ten black plate-hinges from my old 8839 Technic Supply Ship. Essentially I folded five hinges into a near-closed shape like a V, arranged them (...) (22 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.build.military)

Updates to SOV Photos! —Chris Klint
I'm pleased to announce the completion of my Brickshelf uploads from this weekend's SOV photo shoot: (URL) sections are significantly expanded, and I've created two new folders: a Technical folder containing the first of quite a few more images (...)
