  Pz.VI TigerI Tank

Hi Everybody, I took some pictures of my Panzer VI Tiger Tank this weekend after applying a couple of decals. There are still a number of features yet to be completed - there needs to be more equipment, rope, etc. affixed to the outside, and the (...) (23 years ago, 16-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military) !!

(...) Shaun, that is freaking rad, not a stud in sight! You should sell instructions. Love the turret - gorgeous! Later, Gary (23 years ago, 16-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) detail--but I'd like to see detail of the construction of the barbette, if you can put up pictures of that. If memory serves, you didn't use a turntable--it's just gravity holding the turret in, yes? (...) Yes, and they'll be in operation next (...) (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

In lugnet.build.military, Shaun Sullivan writes: I counted no less than three different spare tread sections in various places... based on the proto pics you posted that's prototypical all right but I found it weird. LFB, were the treads so damage (...) (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Pz.VI TigerI Tank

(...) Another Masterpiece! - I must say I like it, Shaun! It is now a hard work for the 'Lugnet-judges' to compare the various Tiger tanks on the net. There are a number of features on your tank that I like and makes it a candidate for a top score. (...) (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Pz.VI TigerI Tank

(...) Thanks for the kind words! I'd like to throw the compliment right back at you and bait you mercilessly, though: I've seen some lovely Russian tanks somewhere, yet they don't seem to have made it into the public arena yet? Aren't we doting (...) (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Pz.VI TigerI Tank

(...) Hi Larry, I'll let Lyndsay comment as well, but here's what I've found: It was possible to seriously damage treads to the point where they needed to be replaced - actually, this wasn't quite as intimidating a prospect as it sounds. The entire (...) (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

In lugnet.build.military, Shaun Sullivan writes: <snip> Thanks for that detailed answer. I knew about the technique for tread replacement (basically, drive off, fix it, then drive back on) and so understood why SOME treads would be carried (1) but (...) (...) Thanks, Mattias! (...) I'm glad you liked this - it was one of my favorite parts of the overall appearance of the model. I didn't take any construction pictures, but I threw together some quick LDraw pictures to give you the idea: (URL) not (...) (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Shaun Thanks for explaining this new building technique. It wasn't 2x2 tiles as I thought so I guess I have to hurry up ordering white panels on Bricklink before they are sold out. Mattias (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) As "impromptu armor" it wouldn't generally be planned. Often, if this artificial armor were added in tread form, it would be the treads of something other than the vehicle in question. Wow Shaun, This is really something, It is really detailed, and I love all of the SNOT, drooooool, mmmmmmm, such cool shapes too. What do you use for your decals? I saw some decal paper at staples, but I dunno if that's what I want. Great work I (...) (23 years ago, 19-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)
