Thanks, Mattias!

I'm glad you liked this - it was one of my favorite parts of the overall
appearance of the model. I didn't take any construction pictures, but I threw
together some quick LDraw pictures to give you the idea:

It's not shown in this sequence, but you can actually bend the brick hinges
down a bit, to get the 1x2 panels to slope downward. It stays in place pretty
well, and is easy to re-attach when it does fall off.

I'm afraid I don't ... next time I borrow the camera I can take some, though
it's not very interesting to look at. The main feature of the underside is a
large dark grey 8x24 plate surface, with lots and lots of part #2817 attached
at staggered intervals to hold the axles (which run straight across). Each
axle is 2.5 studs from the next one, which means that the 2817s have to be 0.5
studs apart. This spacing provides the overlapping wheel spacing.
Thanks for the comments!

| (...) Shaun Thanks for explaining this new building technique. It wasn't 2x2 tiles as I thought so I guess I have to hurry up ordering white panels on Bricklink before they are sold out. Mattias (23 years ago, 17-Feb-02, to lugnet.build.military)
