Marc,

Good to see you online, thanks for your comments!

And I know you’re going for a camo look with this one and the Badger, but all those colors together just doesn’t do it for me. But you know what they say about opinions...

The turret on the Bulldog is in front of the motor, so there isn’t much space to move it back without changing lots of stuff on the inside. The barrel was built to not extend beyond the nose, so as to make is easier to transport around, but maybe I’ll experiment with a longer barrel to see what that looks like.

As for the camo schemes, I’ve also been working on an alternative one using dark green, regular green, old brown and black, which may look more realistic, although I want to see this one has a more futuristic/modern feel to it. I am already developing two opposing forces/armies each with their own distinctive camo scheme.

The Badger Infantry Fighting Vehicle was inspired by a number of different Western IFVs. Initially I hoped to fit a squad of eight in, but there just wasn’t space this time. I can squeeze six troops in the back, but four or five (with equipment) is a much more comfortable fit. I’m not entirely happy with it aesthetically, but another turret design that looked a little smoother was too fragile. I figured this thing doesn’t really need to be pretty, and most of the time it’s doing it’s best to stay camoflagued anyway, as at WAMALUG’s Fall for Fairfax 2006 show (pic with the foliage attached).

This one is my favorite. The angles on the glacis and the rear hatch are nice.

Thanks!

The Modular Combat Vehicle was envisioned as the first of a family of vehicles with various roles. I have yet to expand on the theme, but an artillery, missile launcher or even tank equivalent are all feasible, each using the same basic tractor.

I like it, but I think the front half needs a small gun, at least. The wheels would also look better in light gray. I’d like to see the other variants.

Agree on both accounts, perhaps a quick Bricklink purchase before BF06 is in order for those wheels. I’d like to give the commander a machine gun, but I’ve had a hard time coming up with a design that isn’t too big looking, and doesn’t get in the way of the main gun. Maybe a bionicle ball join type gun with a forward firing cone of fire would work?

Glad you caught the Cobra Maggot connection! :)

Great stuff, Magnus! I hope to see more military stuff from you. BTW, now that you’re on Brickshelf, you should post some pics of that Hind-style dropship you were showing at last year’s Fall for Fairfax.

Ah yes, the “Demon” dropship is still sitting around waiting to be photographed.

Thanks for your comments, will you make it to Brickfest this year?

Magnus
