Hi

Pictures of my latest MOC the famous German WW2 fighter Messerschmitt Bf-109 are
now available on Brickshelf

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=69828

The model is slightly larger than the stud to a foot scale with a length of 33
studs (28 ft) and a wingspan of 38 studs (32,5 ft).

As you can see the model has many building techniques in common with my P51-D
Mustang presented a couple of weeks ago. I have developed the wing leading edges
in order to improve shape and stability (a must for my next model the Spitfire
with its elliptical wing). The cockpit canopy is also new, here I have combined
part 6070 with two adventures windscreens (30161). This solution can be used for
a number of WW2 aircraft. The problem is for the pilot who has to slimmed to fit
inside.

My apologies to Shaun for modelling the same aircraft at the same time, but this
has been a long time project for me too. The successful dihedral construction of
the wings became a breakthrough for my aircraft production line. The Spit will
hopefully be out on Brickshelf tomorrow.

Questions or comments are most welcome

Mattias

Way to take it up a notch Mattias! It's really cool to come back after a few month's absence and see all the new developments. It's an exciting time to be a builder and spectator for sure! (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Really nice Mattias! Great colors, and I like the wing guns. Interesting canopy solution, too. Though I cheated and dremeled a windscreen to make mine, I'll put a plug in for my Me109G I did a while back: (URL) Take care, Gary (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

Wow. This one is really cool, especially the way you built the canopy! I look forward for other planes from you, that's for sure! Terry (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

Hi Mattias, hey, great job on your Bf-109! I noticed your model a few hours ago and got really excited. The way you modeled the fuselage is awesome! I wanted do build the Bf-109 myself but couldn't find the time yet. I think I will just make one (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Mattias, This looks great, a very cool way to model the canopy, and the smooth wings add a lot. Thanks, George (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Looking forward to the Spitfire too! What's next after that? Zero? Don't forget Hurricane, a lot do when it comes to WWII! And Stuka would be a challange! How about a group shot later when you have some more models? Or do you take them apart (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Hi, I really like the model, IT IS GREAT!, and I like the cockpit design. Great job with the front of the wings. I think it adds something but I am not sure what. I really like all the SNOT and I like the shape of the front of the plane. I (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)

Hi all Spitfire fans! The first pictures opponent to the Bf-109 are now available (URL) note that this is only an early version that has to be refined in several ways. The colour scheme on the fuselage especially, addition of pilot and cockpit (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.loc.se)

(...) Hi Mattias, I'll echo everyone else ... great job! I love how slim your cockpit canopy looks. That something I struggled for a long time with. Your P51 wing design is a true winner, and you've been able to produce a number of examples to prove (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)
