oops! I forgot I posted those pictures... gotta stay off the internet after
drinking a night of building / drinking! I took the pics at night, but promise
some much better daylight pictures when I'm finished.
Yes, Lindsay's guess is correct about Missouri... circa '44 and I just haven't
built the stuff on the afterdeck yet nor the 20mm mounts (waiting on a Bricklink
order...)
I gave the cruiser to my dad, so it does still exist! This ship is a slightly
larger scale (about 1:128 as opposed to the 1:146 of the cruiser).
I just thought the slightly larger scale would work better with the elements I'm
using (armoured 40mm mounts for example, would be way to big at the cruisier's
scale).
I'm still debating what to do about the deck. In the cammo I chose, the deck is
actually painted to match the hull, so there's not going to be a tan deck like
the cruiser. I have started to grill tile the after deck, but I'm not sure if I
like the results yet...
That "thing" it's sitting on will be a display case for it. Once the ship is
finished I will enclose it in plexiglass to keep the dust off. The display case
is built in four sections (the ship in three) so I can fit the whole lot into my
car. The final dimensions will be 8' x 1.4' x 5' I'm just waiting for Lego to
make more gray bricks so I can finish it!

| (...) Dan- Wow. That's lovely, really lovely--as to be expected, I suppose! Is it fully in scale with the cruiser, and is the cruiser still extant? I really need better lighting to take a good assay of it because the flash really messes up the sense (...) (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.build.military)
