Re: Rotary [should be Radial] Engine Help

(...) I got it right in the body, but the subject says "Rotary" when it should be "Radial". Oops! --Bill. (23 years ago, 1-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Rotary Engine Help

One of the weaker spots in my PB4Y-2 model is the engines. They are very basic. I'd like some advice on how I can make more realistic engines. The real plane has four radial engines, with air scoops above and below, for an elliptical shape. I (...) (23 years ago, 1-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

but look close at 4594.... there is a new special piece with a fig head and helmet! Can't they just use a mini fig?!?!? Juniorization is going way too far. (...) Mmmmm....that fender assembly over the rear wheels of set 4582 looks promising too. Needs Brasso though :-) The red spoiler in 4593 ((URL) looks useful too. (...) Yes indeedy...! I also noticed here: (URL) 4793 -- that buzz-saw like thing.... depending on scale...might it not work well for scews on modern subs such as everyone was trying to find a solution too not that long ago?   Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

(...) Thanks! The main landing gear was probably the hardest part. After much banging of head against wall I realized that it was not working because the wing was too thin. I was working with a wing that was not quite 2 bricks thick, so the base of (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

(...) No. I did preserve the fiction that minifigs could crawl from position to position inside the plane as much as possible - there is a passageway from the bombardier's station to the central part of the fuselage, and from each of the ball (...)   Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

(...) I had to buy the canopies on BrickBay. I bought quite a few parts on BrickBay in fact, mainly for the turrets, but also some of the slopes in the tail. It's not at all easy to build a model this big, and it takes up a lot of brick. Just about (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

(...) Thanks! Actually I picked this plane partly because I wouldn't have as many tricky curves. The plane was known as the "flying boxcar" by some. The wings' airfoil shape was probably the hardest curve to get right. --Bill. (23 years ago, 29-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

(...) Bill, Wow, this is fabulous, a great model considering the tricky curves you have to emulate in Lego. George (23 years ago, 29-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Holy Shhhhhhhh-nikeys!

Wow! Did everybody see the posted scans of the Final Duel sets? Wow great job Bill! I love all of the hatches and the landing gear, The model as a whole is very realistic, great job! I love the way you did the ball turret up front and in the rear, very clever. Great job Bill! Look forward to more creations from (...) (23 years ago, 28-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Cockpit resource idea...

(...) I'll be sure to use it once I get it going, That seems like a trick you might want to use for any plane where their are two pilots sitting side by side, so I think I'll use that in a general tips section. -Geordan- (...) ___...___ Do You (...)   Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

Nice job. Very nice job. I spent a number of years working at a hobby/military history shop and love it when people produce models of lesser known hardware. I love the bomber's station especially. I was wondering, is there any access to it besides (...) (23 years ago, 28-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Announcing PB4Y-2 "Privateer"

Very Impressive model. I love to see the models of the USAAF and USNAF. This gives me more incentive to find the time to finish my in-design B-24. Maybe I will since all of my black and red is in the hull of my sub right now. I might look into it, (...) (23 years ago, 28-Oct-01, to lugnet.build.military)
