    Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
Hello everone... Here is my new mecha - Aldebaran: (URL) got the idea when I started toying around with a SBD click hinge based armature: (URL) figured the whole "building a frame" style of construction was a good way to 1) carefully control the (...)         Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Greg Oxsen
(...) FRIGGIN AWESOME! This is uber badass. I see you borrowed bryce's bajonkin red building eh? He needs to do more things with those.. like maybe a destruction scene heh. :P Geez this thing is such an awesome mech. Your mechs always have this (...)          Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
(...) Thanks! (...) I don't think he wants the mecha folks to know he's making buildings ;-) (...) Man, I'm glad you noticed! I was thinking ths same thing when I made them. It took a while for me to figure out how to cover them and not limit range (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Jeffrey Benson
Chris, Just wondering, but have you ever heard of STIKFAS? Because looking at those pics, I was like "Wow, he built a STIKFAS figure out of Lego!" AWESOME (Stikfas or no)! I absolutely love it - he's ready to kick-box the enemy ... he looks organic, (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
(...) Check out this pic: (URL) little thing is an alpha male. I love STIKFAS! I wanted to give the frame the same range of motion as the Stickfas figures; needless to say, they were a source of inspiration... Thanks for the kind words! Chris (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Mladen Pejic
(...) -snip a lot of good backstory- (...) Hey Chris! So glad to see new stuff from you. I love how you go for quality over quantity. Every once in a while you show off a mecha that raises the bar in terms of posability and general "coolness". What (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
(...) Coming from you, the O.G. bar-raiser, that means a lot :) (...) Thanks! Lego keeps making it easier for me. I don't have to spend 90% of the mecha building time inventing custom joints or ways to stiffen pre-existing systems. I think that deep (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Chris Maddison
(...) perfect. I expected a more Cephus-type creation from your description (like Mladen said, the whole function dictates form thing), but this is just cool. Very action-figurey. And I absolutely adore the head design. Using that Clickit for an eye (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
(...) Thanks, Chris! I'm glad you liked the head. I spent some time trying to cone up with something a little different than my standard Eros-style head. Thanks again! Chris (21 years ago, 22-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Jeff Ranjo
(...) Chris, Looks great! I especially love the head design. I think that the head and the hands are the most important part of a mech. It gives Aldebaran alot of personality and character. Also, I am a huge fan of the single eye mech look. It (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
(...) Thanks, Jeff! I've really been influenced by your work - especially your Gouka (but you know how much I love that mecha...) I would love to see you build a brick mecha, but I would also miss your Bionicle/Technic mecha as well... Chris (21 years ago, 28-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Christopher Snead
(...) Thanks for the input, Eric. I thought is was time do do something different with the head. Also, I think 12" is just right for the SBD joints (although Dave Johann might disagree with me ;-) ) Later, Chris (...) (21 years ago, 28-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Aldebaran's New Clothes —Geordan Hankinson
Hey Chris! Sorry for the late reply, I've been at camp for a week. Anyways... Geez every aspect of her/it/him is done perfectly! You're older mecha looked sweet, but not as sweet as this. You covered everything that hints at it's posability, and did (...) (21 years ago, 6-Aug-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
