Hey All-

This may seem like fishing for posts, but it really isn't!  Well, not really
anyway.  But I am taking Spencer Nowak's point of view and saying that I
want criticism, good or bad, just to get feedback on it.  It seems the only
people who really get feedback (good or bad or whatever) are either very
good builders or have asked for it.

Not always true. Sometimes just posting is enough if the model is stunning
enough. That seems
to be the key. Also, I've noticed that when the picture quality is bad, very
few posts are made
about an otherwise fantastic model.

I do not care if it is 'OMG! I puked on my keyboard that was so ugly!' or if
it is more like 'Sweet, that is the BEST...' as long as you give me
feedback.  I really am trying to improve my building, and I can't really fix
problems I do not know about, correct?

I'll agree with you here, but I'd like to point out that emulating others'
styles as a test run to
improve your own style also has it's advantages. I started learning mecha
from Colin Gutierrez
and Karim Nassar and it took quite a while before I found my own style. That
style is always
evolving, always learning from others, always in flux. That's also why I
don't post as much as I
used to-I'm too busy pushing the envelope with building to post most times.
My form of posting
takes the form of working on the sidebar and offering up new resources to
all the builders rather
than critiquing one.

So here it is:  Please critique my creations!  But please be constructive
about it, e.g. telling me WHY you like/dislike models, and how it could be
fixed.  Without complaining TOO much, I'd like to say that the lack of
comments/critiques/whatever is the only bad thing on lugnet.building.mecha

This is something we're all striving to fix without alienating most of the
builders. I'd love to come
right out and tell someone their creation is severely lacking, but I won't
show a lack of decorum
here at Lugnet because I want to encourage rather than discourage and far
too many builders
can't take criticism.

Well, my little rant is over...now that I have guilt-tripped you into
realizing how lax you all have been, hit me with the critiques! :<D

No guilt-just the reality that only so much can be done in the time I've got
available each day and
I'd rather spend that time helping many folks at once.

Ry Wilhelm

P.S.-I also would like to say a little thanks to Eric Sophie and Mark
Neumann, who have faithfully replied to my posts in the past, criticizing
and complimenting as they felt lead.  Thanks yo!

They do a fantastic job around here. I'm always happy to see them posting
and helping out
especially when I'm not around for a couple of days.
