hello again, everyone!  although i really admire how you guys (and gals)
give good constructive criticism along with positive comments, i never
really took criticism much to heart.  it's not that it disheartens me, but
rather by the time i post my pics, i am so satisfied with the finished
product that very few points of advise really hit home--that is, until now.

after reading the great comments i received regarding rotgeist,  i was very
pleased...so pleased, in fact, that i was ready to close this next chapter
of my mecha-building repertoire.  however, i started to ponder some of the
advise and comments about improving rotgeist, and i realized that many of
them had great merit.

i therefore decided to incorporate some ideas others offered to me into
rotgeist, and thus, the idea of a "Mk II" came to its fruition.  here's the
breakdown of my "upgrades" along with the person who inspired it:

1.  lower leg color:  geordan hankinson and Tony Knaak both agreed that the
lower leg color combination was a bit off, so i got rid of the red disks,
and changed the gray 1x3 slopes and 1x1 bricks to red on the inside of the
calf.  i also added another red, inversed double slope.  this made the
combination more linear and not sporatic

2.  feet:  geordan also mentioned that the feet didn't seem "complete"
enough due to the technic slope with the holes.  i really didn't agree with
him that much although i thought that the current feet weren't stable enough
being only attached by two studs each.  i revamped the feet and replaced the
technic slope with two 1x3 slopes and one 1x2 slope which gives the top of
the foot more of a curve.  it also seems to make the feet more "complete".
and i didn't want to let eric sophie down by getting rid of the rear feet
splay.  actually, with the new feet, the model is a lot more stable.

3.  knee joint:  tony knaak also mentioned that the knee joint looked too
open for direct hits which would not be prudent for an armored mecha, and
the legs looked a little "squat and stubby" for the anime look.  originally
i disagreed with him, but i decided to replace the small, round click hinges
with two 1x4 click hinges made round by two 1x2 regular and inverted slopes.
the overall look was fantastic.  i didn't realize how "squat and stubby" the
legs looked until i added the 1x4 click hinges.  now the mecha looks taller,
more proportionally sound, and the knee joints look to be a bit sturdier.
there's a close-up photo of this change.

4.  arms:  geordan pointed out that, along with the feet, the arms didn't
seem complete enough and needed some filling out.  this really hit home when
i revamped the knees and lower legs.  the arms seemed a little too short,
and i agreed with geordan from the beginning that the arms needed some
filling out.  i decided to lengthen the arms by 1 stud using a 1x2 brick.  i
also added some plates, tiles, plate hinges, and clips to add to the bulk of
the arms.  i also switched out the 2x2 regular and inverted slopes on the
upper arms with some 2x3 slopes.  i think that did the trick.

all in all, i really appreciate your constructive criticism, gentlemen.  by
taking your advice, i have made rotgeist a better-looking and performing
mecha, and i am even more pleased now than before.  i hope you like it.
please lmkwyt again.

(...) I hear that, sometimes alot of our work is based on many personal building decisions. Its uncertain when a person makes a critique if its something "They" would like to see, or, if it really might help the overall model. Kudos for putting the (...) Wow Jason! i didn't think that that mecha could get much better, but, boy! Did you prove me wrong! The new knees look great! Far more protected against enemy munitions! and the color is absoluteltly fantastic! one thing I didn't notice from the (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Jason that is so cool! It's awesome to see the same mecha revisited and improved. The new arms are very cool, nice and bulky. They fit in nicely with the rest of the model. I love all of the minor changes here and there, they take an already (...) (21 years ago, 17-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

WoW! Jason, Mk II is quite an improvement over Mk I as well it should be! The colorscheme is much more refined and the detail on this model is quite stunning. I'd love to see this one on display at BricksWest 2004 just to perform some side-by-side (...) (21 years ago, 21-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
