Due, I saw this when it was first moderated on bshelf 'cause I
keep a pretty close eye on the mecha sector. Anyway I was looking
at the pics and I said to myself...damn that looks like the joints
I used on th Gaunlet! Cool! Then I wondered if you poster here.
Well I guess I got my answer. Thanks for the props!

Yeah, I was actually kind of worried about that. I signed up for a
Brickshelf account and LUGNET newsgroup posting access on the same
day, but it took longer than I expected for the second one to
activate.

Anyway, when I first saw the Gauntlet I knew I had to try that
technique for myself, because it looked ideal for small mecha
creation. I guess you could say it's what started my work on the
Pygmy!

One final thing...what the heck kinda of file format is .png?!? I
never heard of that before.

PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics. It's a relatively new
standard designed to replace the ageing (and patent-sensitive) GIF
file format. Like GIF, it supports transparency and lossless
compression algorithms, but it also allows for 16.7 million colors
like the JPEG format.

I used PNG because I wanted to preserve some of the sharper lines in
the image, which typically produce artifacting when encoded in JPEG.
The file size is larger, though, but not dramatically so. Unless of
course, you're on a 28k8 modem...
