Hey all,

Hi Victor, welcome. Great to have a new mech-head.

Introducing the VM01-MU "Pygmy" Defense Mecha:

I believe every squad should have one of this.  But must grunts
would think that they would be out of a job if the VM01-MU proves
itself.

For the arms and legs, I took inspiration from Tony Knaak's ingenious
Gauntlet lever/bush technique. I figured this would give a nice
tradeoff between size and poseability.

In my opinion TK's joint tech is the best so far for the size, specially
for arms.  It works really well with mechs such as yours and Power Armor
such as mine.
To reinforce the limbs, I
threaded strips of rubber band through them. One might argue this is
"cheating", but I actually used a spare rubber band from one of my
Bionicle sets, so I figure it's okay.

As long as its LEGO issued you should have no problem mister.

One of the biggest problems turned out to be photographing the Pygmy -
I only have a low-res webcam at my disposal, and it can't handle the
darker parts very well. So, I ended up rebuilding the whole mecha in
MLCad, and then rendering it in POV-Ray.

Personally I like to do both so I treated myself with a good digicam.
I do love MLCAD and the POV Rendering.  I am trying to get LGEO to work
but I am not having any luck.  Have you tried?

To spruce things up a little I
added the VG01 Heavy Laser Cannon to the first picture - it's not
really a microfig-scale weapon, but it underscores the Pygmy's small
size nicely.

I like the weapon a lot.  I noticed though that you are using the chain
parts.  That usually means there is some kind of ammo involved.  I might be
missing something but that sort of contradicts "Laser".

What do you think? If you have any ideas or comments that I can use for
my next creation, I would love to hear them. Be gentle, though - it's
my first time. :-)

Haha, we are all there Victor.  Every time we ask for an opinion on our work.
I really like this one.  I would definitely like to see more stuff from you.
Regards,
David Rabadan

in there a couple of VM01-MU please?"

Hey all, After a long period of lurking around and secretly envying your talents, I too have decided to take the plunge and build a mecha myself. I believe my exact thoughts were, "how hard can it be?". Well, suffice to say that my admiration for (...) (21 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
