Jeesh, got to catch up...

Not much I can add to this, but here's my two bricks worth anyway:

Imagine this in yellow, be an awesome worker mech.  Especially looking like
a gorilla, it'd be great.

Hmmm, I tihnk I've just found my next project. I was going to try a
motorised kangaroo mech, but this sounds easier.

If I were to do the construction method on this
guy,  I'd put a cage on the pilot not a canopy.

Ho yes!

I only hope my rather diminutive supply of yellow slopes holds out. Looks
like the UCS TIE is going in the parts bin to free up more dark grey. Dark
grey and yellow go very nice together.

With the articualtion of
this beast, woof.  (picturing a group of teamster minifigs hanging around
their mechs, "Hey, yous want us to unload dat frieghter, yous gots to wait
til after our contractual 20 minute coffee break."

The cockpit looks very heavy, very industrial.  I don't know if I like the
whole front end coming down.  Not sure what to do but it seems to fit.

That was born more from necessity than design. If I did it again I'd
probably try something different.

If this is a first forray into mecha for you, I'd say you are well on your
way.  Keep it up.

Thanks Mark. I did do a couple of small models to test the mech waters, so
to speak. They were good lessons on how to place articulation points,
particularly the little P-suit. They're on my brickshelf folder if you're
interested.

ps. a side note to Eric while I'm here - I reworked a few things last night
after reflecting on your comments (another 2 am'er... <huuuge yawns>). I
beefed up the shoulders a bit and while I'm not sure it looks significantly
better it certainly sealed up the second ball joint nicely. The ball
connecting to the torso is still a little exposed, but I don't think I can
hide it without compromisng it's freedom of movement. The mech can touch
it's opposite 'ear' at the moment. I like that.

I also rebuilt the thighs to make them stronger. As an added bonus, the hips
now have a far greater range of movement :)

good photos soon...
