No way Karim started that I have been using minifigs legs as hands since the
late 80's. And I am sure there are those that did it before me.

While it is certainly likely that someone thought of the idea of using Lego
minifig legs as arms before Karim, he is (to my knowledge) the first person
who actually published his idea in the form of a website or online photos;
as a result, the technique has been duplicated countless times by both
budding and seasoned mecha builders all over the world...which is why he
receives credit for "starting" the trend.

Hi!  I don't normally post in .mecha, but I noticed this thread and had to
say something.  Back in the '80s I happened to receive as a gift a VHS tape
with several Lego-animated shorts called "Lego Stories". There were a number
of animated characters, including a gorilla and a body builder, that used
minifigure legs as hands.  I think it was produced by an animation studio in
Budapest around 1989 and distributed by TLC.  But since much of the styles
used in the video are Legoland Park-ish, there seems to be a good chance
that the use of legs as hands predates the video, and most certainly
predates Lugnet.  Just a thought.
